What exactly is an eBike?
An eBike, short for electric bike, is a bicycle with a built-in motor that helps with mobility. This extra boost makes riding easier, allowing you to travel farther and faster with less effort.
Riders can adjust the level of assistance to match their comfort and terrain, either using a throttle or one of five pedal-assist levels found on your Lectric bike’s controls. eBikes are a popular, eco-friendly option for commuting, recreation, fitness and everyday transportation.

How do eBikes work?
Simply put, an eBikes combines pedal power with an electric motor to make riding easier and more efficient.
Pedal Assist
Lectric eBikes have sensors on them that detect when you’re pedaling. This alerts the motor to add extra power. Using your Lectric display, you can adjust how much assistance you want.
Motor
The motor is the powerhouse behind the whole mechanism. It helps turn the wheels, making hills and headwinds easier to handle.
Battery
A rechargeable lithium-ion battery powers the motor and determines the longevity of the assistance.
Display & Controls
Lectric’s removable backlit color display lets you switch riding modes and track speed and battery levels, while a built-in USB-C port keeps your smartphone charged on the go.

How do I ride? Do I have to pedal?
All Lectric eBikes offer can be ridden in three different ways to ride:
1. Pedaling without any motor assist (Keep it classic and ride likeas a regular bicycle).
2. Pedaling with motor assistance (Lectric eBikes have up to five levels of pedal assist that increase speed and less effort on your part).
3. Pure throttle (Take a break, and let the bike do all the work).

Generally, eBike speeds vary based on the motor, battery, and local regulations. Lectric eBikes provide pedal assistance up to about 32 km/h. Always check local laws, as eBike speed limits can vary by region.
Do you need a license to drive an ebike?
In many regions, eBikes with lower-powered motors and a maximum assisted speed of about 32 km/h typically don’t require a license. However, rules vary by country, state, or municipality. Some locations may also set age limits or other requirements, so it’s important to check local regulations before riding.

Do eBikes need insurance?

- Riding on public roads: If you ride your ebike on public roads, some jurisdictions may require liability insurance, especially if the ebike is capable of higher speeds or is classified as a motor vehicle.
- Ebikes with higher power or speed: In some regions, ebikes that exceed certain power or speed limits may be classified as mopeds or motorcycles, requiring insurance coverage similar to motor vehicles.
- Accidents and liability: While insurance may not be legally required, having coverage can provide financial protection in case of accidents, damage, or liability claims involving your ebike.
- Theft and damage: Insurance coverage can also help protect against theft, vandalism, or damage to your ebike, similar to coverage for other valuable possessions.

How waterproof are Lectric eBikes?
All electrical components on Lectric eBikes carry an IP-X5 rating, meaning they can handle water jets. In simple terms, “water jets” in IP ratings means the bike can handle directed sprays of water—like a hose—without damaging its electrical parts, but not for long periods of time. The number 5 in the IP code shows how resistant it is.
At Lectric, we always recommend riding carefully in wet conditions—braking distances may be longer, and tires can slip when turning. Remember, the electrical components are water-resistant, not waterproof. So, puddles are cool. Same goes for light rain.
Remember, water damage is not covered under the Lectric eBike warranty. Water wisely.
All Lectric eBike's electrical components have an IP rating of X5! This means it can withstand jetting water. See the IP code for more details.
Use caution when riding in wet conditions as it will take longer to use the brakes to slow down, and also when turning as the tires may slip. The electrical components on the bike are not waterproof.
The warranty for all Lectric eBikes does not cover water damage.
What is the maximum rider weight for Lectric eBikes?

What is the top speed for all Lectric eBikes?
Top speeds can vary by model, but every Lectric eBike is designed to deliver a smooth, confident ride. Whether you’re cruising through the city or taking a relaxed spin, each bike offers a speed that fits its style and purpose. XP Lite 2.0: 20mph (32 km/h)
XP Trike2: 14mph (23 km/h)
XP Trike2 750: 17mph (27 km/h)
XP4: 32 km/h 28mph (45km)
The XP4 ships with a top speed of 32km/h. The settings allow the bike to go up to 45km, but this is not how the product ships. Be aware of local laws to decide if unlocking a higher top speed is the right thing for you.

What are the recommended rider heights for Lectric eBikes?
Finding the right fit is key to a comfortable and confident ride. Lectric eBikes are designed to accommodate a wide range of rider heights, and simple seat and handlebar adjustments make it easy to dial in the perfect fit. Riders within these height ranges may comfortably ride the bikes by simply adjusting the seat and handlebars to their height preference.

What is the classification of Lectric eBikes?
All Lectric eBikes ship as Class 2, meaning they include a throttle that can power the bike up to 32 km/h. In this mode, pedal assist is also limited to 19–32 km/h, depending on the model.
All Lectric eBikes ship as a class 2 electric bike, meaning it has a throttle capable of propelling the bike at speeds of up to 20mph. Pedal assist will also be limited to 12 or 20mph in this setting depending on the model.
Keep in mind that the throttle will remain limited to 19–32 km/h due to federal regulations. Always check your local laws before unlocking higher speed settings, as rules can vary by state, city, or trail.

Can the Lectric eBikes handle extreme temperatures?
All Lectric eBikes are designed to handle extreme temperatures to a point. Mechanical and electrical components on the bikes react differently to various temperatures and weather conditions.
Cold Weather:
You may notice your battery drains faster in freezing weather, which is normal for lithium-ion batteries.For best performance in cold conditions:
- Store and charge your battery indoors at room temperature whenever possible
- Allow the battery to warm up before riding or charging if it has been stored in the cold
- Expect reduced range on very cold days and plan your rides accordingly
Hot Weather:
While our headquarters are in Phoenix, AZ, our eBikes are engineered and tested to handle both extreme desert heat and Canadian summer temperatures.
How do I store my ebike battery for the winter?
If you won’t be riding your Lectric eBike for several weeks—or storing it for the winter—proper battery storage helps maintain performance and extend its lifespan.
Storage Tips
- Charge the battery to around 60% before storing it.
- Remove the battery from the eBike to prevent any slow power drain.
- Store it indoors in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area at moderate room temperature. Avoid unheated garages, sheds, extreme heat, freezing conditions, moisture, and direct sunlight.
- Keep the battery upright on a non-flammable surface, away from heat sources and heavy objects.
- Check the charge every 2–3 months and recharge to about 60% if needed.
- Do not leave the battery in a hot car or damp environment.
- For extra safety, install a smoke alarm in the storage area.

Storing your ebike battery properly during the winter is essential to maintain its performance and longevity. Here are some tips for winter storage:
- Charge the Battery: Before storing your ebike battery, make sure it's fully charged. This helps prevent it from self-discharging completely during storage, which can lead to irreversible damage.
- Store in a Cool, Dry Place: Find a cool, dry location to store your ebike battery during the winter months. Avoid areas with extreme temperatures, such as unheated garages or sheds, as freezing temperatures can harm the battery.
- Check Charge Periodically: It's a good idea to check the battery's charge periodically during storage, approximately every 1-2 months. If the charge level drops significantly, recharge the battery to around 50% capacity to maintain its health.
- Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Protect the battery from exposure to extreme cold or heat. Extreme temperatures can affect the battery's performance and lifespan. If possible, store the battery indoors at room temperature.
- Disconnect the Battery: If your ebike allows it, disconnect the battery from the bike during storage. This prevents any potential drain on the battery from the bike's electrical systems.
- Store Upright: Store the battery in an upright position to prevent any leaks or spills. Avoid placing heavy objects on top of the battery during storage.
- Refer to Manufacturer's Guidelines: Follow any specific storage recommendations provided by the ebike manufacturer. They may have additional guidelines tailored to your particular battery model.
By following these tips, you can ensure that your ebike battery remains in good condition throughout the winter and is ready for use when the riding season resumes.
What is a torque sensor on an ebike?
A torque sensor on an eBike measures how hard you’re pressing on the pedals and adjusts the motor’s assistance to match your effort. Pedal lightly and the motor gives a gentle boost; pedal harder and it delivers more power. This creates a smoother, more natural riding feel—similar to a regular bike, just with extra support.
Torque sensors can also help improve battery efficiency and extend range, since the motor only provides the power you actually need. They’re especially helpful for riders who want a more active riding experience or who frequently tackle hills and varied terrain.

Yes, all Lectric eBike purchases include a 1-year manufacturer’s limited warranty that covers the bike’s main components—such as the frame, motor, battery, electronics, and other key parts—against defects in materials or workmanship.
However, normal wear items, accessories, and damage caused by misuse, accidents, or improper maintenance are not covered.
