In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our team here at Lectric eBikes wanted to honor three individuals who fought, or are currently fighting, breast cancer with one-of-a-kind PINK Lectric eBikes.
We were overwhelmed by thousands of inspiring nominations from all around the country. The strength and resilience of these individuals have been inspiring to our team, and we are so thankful for each and every nominator and nominee willing to share their personal stories with us. Our hearts go out to you!
Our team is thrilled to announce the winners of the custom pink XP 3.0, XPedition, and XP Trike. Learn about Sara, Susie, and Danielle below!
Sara - XPedition Winner
October is a special month for our pink XPedition winner, Sara H. She was diagnosed with Breast Cancer October of 2021, and finished treatment in October of 2022. Now, she's happy to proclaim that she won a pink eBike in October of 2023!
When we asked Sara how Breast Cancer changed her life, she explained to us that she was abruptly taken away from the life she knew at the young age of 30. For a year, she went through all the emotions and challenges of multiple sugeries, chemotherapy, radiation, and medication.
In the midst of the suffering she endured, Sara recalls conquering her anxiety and being brave through it all. She started meditating and continued to realize that life is too short to be anything but unapologetically authentic. Sara's cancer made her feel apprehensive, but at the same time, thankful for valuable life lessons she would not have otherwise gained.
She noted, "I am grateful for what cancer taught me because the truth is, I am a better person for it."
With her new eBike, Sara looks forward to reducing her carbon footprint and having a little bit of fun while doing so. Specifically, she looks forward to visiting restaurants and stores nearby cancer-free. We can't wait to see where your Lectric adventures take you, Sara!
Susie - XP Trike Winner
Susie M. was nominated by her sister, Lisa, and is the winner of our pink XP Trike! Lisa explained how Susie winning the XP Trike from her nomination was a full circle moment since Susie bought all of her siblings' bikes with her own money when she was just a teenager. We love to see it!
Susie grew up acting as the mother figure to her siblings. She then had five kids with her husband of almost 50 years, but they lost their oldest sons (twins) at the age of 16 when they were in an accident just outside their home.
In the Fall of 2022, Susie received her diagnosis. She has braved the treatment and therapies bravely and has endured surgery not once, but twice, for her cancer.
She is a selfless giver even in the hardest of times. Lisa explained, “She's a joy to everyone she meets! To give you an idea of her selflessness, have you ever heard of a cancer patient making a full breakfast and bringing it to those giving her radiation treatments that morning? Well, she did!"
Susie looks forward to using her new electric trike to take on trails with her husband near her home in Ohio. Have fun out there, Susie!
Danielle - XP 3.0 Winner
Danielle was nominated to win the pink Lectric XP 3.0 by her mom, Debbie.
Danielle was diagnosed with breast cancer at the young age of 26, just after she had a baby. She decided to move forward with a very aggressive treatment plan. She had multiple surgeries and underwent five chemo treatments.
She became very ill and it took about a year before she was declared cancer-free. Danielle continued to work the entire time she went through treatment and never missed a day.
A few years after she had fully recovered, Danielle decided to enroll in nursing school again so she could help and care for others the way her nurses did her. She became an ICU nurse and while working nights, went on to earn her BSN in nursing.
She is now a 13-year breast cancer survivor and a gifted nurse working in the cardiac OR unit at a hospital in Savannah, GA. She truly enjoys taking care of her patients and is a kind, compassionate nurse.
She does her best in her spare time to exercise to keep her bones strong and enjoys coming over to ride her mom, Debbie's, eBike when she can. Now, the pair will be able to ride together! We wish you the best of adventures, Danielle & Debbie!
Early Detection & Diagnosis for Breast Cancer
Although breast cancer is sometimes found after symptoms appear, many individuals with breast cancer have no symptoms. That is why early detection and diagnosis is imperative.
Screenings are widely available, and the American Cancer Society can help you find resources to get screened locally. Visit their site for more information on screening options and prevention measures today!
