Recall Hotline: 877-479-5422 | Recall Support Hours: Tuesday - Friday, 9 AM PT - 4 PM PT | Email: contact@lectricebikes.com

In cooperation with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, Lectric eBikes, LLC. is voluntarily recalling the mechanical brakes on the Lectric XP 3.0 electric bike model. Due to a defect in a subset of XP 3.0 eBikes, the mechanical disc brake calipers located on the front and rear of the e-bike can fail resulting in loss of control, posing crash and injury hazards to the rider.

Out of an abundance of caution, the affected XP 3.0 units sold between November 1, 2022 and May 6, 2023 are being voluntarily recalled. If you purchased an XP 3.0 Lectric eBike during this time, stop using the product immediately.

You must have your affected eBike’s brakes replaced before you can continue riding. Lectric eBikes will provide a free set of replacement mechanical brakes upon registration below.

The following models purchased between November 1, 2022 and May 6, 2023 may be affected:

  • XP 3.0
  • XP 3.0 Long-Range
  • XP Step-Thru 3.0
  • XP Step-Thru 3.0 Long-Range

  2. Begin registration for a brake kit by calling the hotline at 877-479-5422 (Support Hours: Tuesday - Friday, 9 AM PT - 4 PM PT), or email contact@lectricebikes.com

       a. You will receive an email which includes instructions to submit a receipt for reimbursement of the brake replacement service.

       b. Within 2-6 weeks, a brake kit will be shipped to you, free of charge.

My brakes seem fine, and I have not had any issues when riding. Can I keep my brakes?

No. Even though it may appear to be safe, if the eBike is an affected eBike, we are asking you to immediately stop using the eBike and participate in the recall by ensuring you get a free replacement brake kit.

I have identified my eBike as included in the recall. What are my options?

You should participate in the recall by registering. Please contact us by phone at 877-479-5422 (Tuesday-Friday, 9 AM PT to 4 PM PT) to register, or email contact@lectricebikes.com.

I have an XP 3.0 eBike on order that has not yet been shipped/delivered. What are my options?

Your order will be shipped with upgraded brakes, and thus will not be a part of this recall.

I got the hydraulic kit. Do I need the mechanical?

The mechanical brake replacement is the CPSC-approved remedy for the recall. The hydraulic brake upgrade is a separate program that started on 5/16/23 and ended on 7/31/23. The only brakes that need to be replaced are the original brakes that came with your XP 3.0.
