The Lectric XPress launched on April 16th, 2024, offering a fresh take on the classic Lectric eXPerience. Designed for urban commuters, it provides an affordable, capable ride with a 26" wheel diameter, up to 750W of motor power, and a torque sensor — features that make it ideal for daily city riding.
The positive community response to this eBike has been resounding. Let's jump into some of our riders favorite parts of the new model!
A Torque Sensor Perfect for Urban Commuting
One of the standout features of the Lectric XPress is its torque sensor, which adjusts power output based on how hard you pedal, providing a more natural riding experience. As Tyson from Ride Review explains, the torque sensor "completely changes the game." Unlike traditional cadence sensors that provide power as soon as you start pedaling, the XPress's torque sensor offers a smoother, more controlled ride — especially at higher speeds.
"This bike is designed for longer distances, offering more momentum and smoother pedal assist," said Tyson. “This is meant for commuting... it has more momentum or inertia to the pedal assist level.”
The beauty of the torque sensor becomes evident when you’re cruising at higher speeds. Tyson notes that “once you start pedaling harder, it kicks up to a higher gear and stays in that once you relax your pace a little.” This smooth transition helps riders maintain higher speeds with less effort, making it excellent for long commutes or sustained rides. The result? A more efficient and controlled ride, perfect for urban commuting or longer trips where speed and efficiency matter most.
UL 2849 Certification
Underwritten Laboratories (UL) is an organization founded in 1894 which provides safety certification for electrical equipment, and manufacturing processes, along with numerous other services. They are seen as the industry leader in certifying battery pack and electrical systems safety.
Meeting the rigorous requirements of UL Certification creates a safer and more relatable product. The XPress is UL 2271 and UL 2849 certified, meaning both the battery and the entire electrical system — including motor, controller, display, and wiring — have passed rigorous safety inspections.
Mitch, from RideReview, in The Perfect Ride series, takes an extensive dive into the XPress below. See his comprehensive breakdown to find out more about UL 2849 certification and product features.
Ready to Ride
Ryan from EBike Escape demonstrates how easy it is to assemble the XPress right out of the box. As he points out, Lectric makes it clear that "bike assembly shouldn't be the customer's responsibility." We offer tool-free assembly on the XPress to minimize assembly time, and maximize ride time.
Lectric believes building your eBike shouldn't be your responsibility, and the XPress’s quick setup makes it an ideal choice for those eager to get out and get on the road. While some eBikes do require a little assembly, the XPress's quick and easy set up makes it a must have for those looking to get the most amount of time in the saddle.
Quick Responding Hydraulic Brakes
The XPress, and XPress 750, are both equipped with premium hydraulic brakes to provide an elevated and safer riding experience.
Hydraulic brakes are a sought-after feature for many eBike riders, and the XPress delivers with premium hydraulic brakes that provide an elevated and safer riding experience. In Freshly Charged’s review of the XPress, Andrew mentions, "Hydraulic brakes are essential for me," underscoring their importance for safety. Dalton also shows off how well the XPress is equipped for handling dense urban environments saying "I think you should buy the Lectric XPress if you live in a city, or on a college campus, and are looking for an affordable good-quality eBike."
Powerful Hill-Climbing Capabilities
The XPress is also great on inclines. With up to 85Nm of torque output on the XPress 750, and 55Nm of torque on the XPress with a 500W motor, you can conquer hills with ease. As Ryan from Ebike Escape says,"That is super impressive for an $999 eBike!" while he effortlessly climbs a steep hill on his ride on the 500W motor on his XPress.
As Ryan demonstrates in his video, the XPress is able to hold a consistent 16 MPH pace on his hill climb test use throttle only. With the ability to conquer hills effortlessly, whether using throttle or pedal-assist, the XPress is perfect for riders in hilly or mountainous areas. If your commutes take you through areas similar to ones seen in this video, the XPress might be a good choice for you!
Which XPress is Right for You?
For all these reasons and more, people are loving the XPress, but how do you know which version is the best for you? Let's break it down and help you find the XPress that's right for you.
High-Step vs. Step-Thru
The XPress comes in two different frame styles, a High-Step and Step-Thru. The XPress High-Step frame is great for taller riders in the height range of 5'4" - 6'4" and features that iconic diamond shape. The other frame option is one that's a bit more accessible and features a lower stand over height of just 18.5". The XPress Step-Thru is great for riders in the 5'2" - 6'3" height range.
500W vs. 750W
Another deciding factor on which XPress is best for you is motor size. If you plan on tackling steeper inclines or need more torque, the 750W motor is your best bet. The 500W motor also reaches a top speed of 28 MPH but offers less torque.
Selecting the right eBike can be difficult, but if you are looking for a capable city commuter, the XPress is the right choice for you.
